The company also pre-announced the Q3 results, with Cloud ARR reaching $1.1B, growing 75% YoY. The transition of CEO in the middle of cloud transformation will add a lot of uncertainty, plus Graham Smith is a "finance guy," and investors would feel more comfortable if the COO were named to CEO to lead the company through cloud transformation. We believe the conversation has been going on for a while for persistent weak performance, but the sudden announcement shocked the market nonetheless. " We determined now is the right time to transition to our next phase of leadership - in particular, the Board is focused on identifying a leader with a proven track record of scaling operations and growing multi-billion dollar enterprises." He has also served in a number of executive positions at Salesforce, including as Chief Financial Officer from 2007 to 2014.On November 15th, Splunk, the market leader in APM and security, announced that its CEO Doug Merritt will be replaced by the Chair of the Board, Graham Smith. Smith has served as a member of Splunk's Board since 2011 and as Chair since 2019. Graham Smith will also retain his Chair responsibilities while the Board conducts its search for the next CEO. And in April of this year, Splunk hired Teresa Carlson, previously the head of AWS’s public sector business, as president and chief growth officer. Ledger, then Splunk’s president of worldwide field operations, left the company to take a similar post at identity and access management tech developer Okta.Īt the time, Splunk promoted several executives, including Christian Smith to chief revenue officer and John Sabino to chief customer officer. In May, Splunk hired AWS database executive Shawn Bice to fill the newly created post of president of products and technology. In April, senior vice president and CTO Tim Tully left Splunk to join a venture capital firm. His departure caps off a number of changes in Splunk’s top management ranks in a little more than a year. For the three-month period to October, it also expects to post an ARR at about $2.825 billion, representing year-over-year growth of 37 percent.ĭoug Merritt’s resignation last Monday came less than five months after Silver Lake invested $1 billion into the data platform giant. Meanwhile, based on its preliminary unaudited financial information, the San Francisco-headquartered firm expects to report revenue of approximately $660 million for the third quarter ended on October 31, representing a 19 percent growth compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year. He has also served in a number of executive positions at Salesforce, including as Chief Financial Officer from 2007 to 2014. The company is aiming to target continued customer and cloud transformation success as one of its current goals for the upcoming fiscal year. It is played on courses consisting of a series of holes (usually a multiple of 9) similar to those of its parent, but the courses are characterized by their short length (usually within 10 yards from tee to cup). Post-Titanic Hangoverĭirected by James Cameron, riding the epic wave of his Titanic success (pun perhaps intended), Dark Angel is set in 2019. ©1999-2001 Cameron/Eglee Productions & 20th Century Fox Television. This was a subtle homage to the show’s technological futurism and a reference to the wealth disparities that play a prominent background role in the show’s plot, alongside the bootstrapped repairs to aging cars owned by the general public. Smart cars were then brand new, so the appearance on a primetime American TV show marked the first time many viewers had even seen one. Left: Max (Alba) rides past a Smart Car in traffic in her day job as a bike messenger. I’m especially thinking about this in light of my recent piece on imagining disaster. Remember those predictions of self-driving cars that haven’t proven to be too realistic? There were a few pretty wild things from Dark Angel, which I figured it’d be worth revisiting– both as part of my interest in media critique, in general, but also in terms of thinking about how we envision the future. The series was in a few ways bizarrely ahead of its time. I watched this series as a kid and I thought it was neat but I didn’t really appreciate it at a full level beyond the cinematic intrigue. In Jessica Alba’s breakout role, a primetime, cyberpunk series that survived all of two seasons, Dark Angel is a pretty great tour-de-force that I rediscovered recently on an aging hard drive. Because I know you guys get bored with that. Yes, it’s a rare piece media critique instead of just writing about buses. 8/4/2023 0 Comments Unequal pupil size in childCauses of this type of anisocoria include:Ĭomplications of eye surgery (including cataract surgery) Mechanical anisocoria is unequal pupil sizes from damage to the iris or its supporting structures. It also influences a muscle that controls pupil size. The third cranial nerve - also called the oculomotor nerve - controls several muscles that move the eyes and eyelids. In most cases, the cause of Adie's tonic pupil is unknown. In 80% of cases, only one eye is affected, resulting in anisocoria. Adie’s tonic pupil occurs primarily in women between the ages of 20 to 40 years. The affected pupil also reacts poorly to light. Adie’s tonic pupilĪdie’s tonic pupil is a dilated pupil caused by damage to nerve fibers that control muscles in the eye that constrict the pupil. But in some cases, no cause can be found. Horner's syndrome typically is caused by an underlying medical problem, such as a stroke, tumor or spinal cord injury. A pupil affected by Horner's syndrome generally takes 10 to 20 seconds to dilate in dim lighting or a darkened room. Normal pupils (including normal pupils that are slightly unequal in size) dilate within five seconds of room lights being dimmed. Horner's syndrome also affects how quickly the smaller pupil dilates in dim lighting. The presence of simple anisocoria does not appear to be influenced by sex, age or eye color. In simple anisocoria, the difference in pupil size is usually 1 millimeter (mm) or less, and both pupils react normally to light. It’s a benign (harmless) condition that affects approximately 20% of the population. Amnesia and other dissociative disorders. In fact, the phenomenon is linked to various medical health conditions, including: #1 Untreated Medical ConditionĪnxiety isn’t the only reason why people experience derealization. Evidence also suggests that mental illness may play a role. Namely, from other medical conditions and trauma. The American Psychiatric Association states that derealization may arise for several reasons. However, derealization isn’t always due to anxiety. For this reason, derealization can be highly distressing. However, unlike personality disorders, with derealization, the individual senses something isn’t quite right with their perception of the world - they have some awareness that it’s inaccurate. Your derealization may span for just a few minutes, or it may last for months. Therefore, if people suffer from anxiety disorders like social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, or OCD, they're at a greater risk of derealization. However, the incidence of derealization is far more common as anxiety persists, becoming chronic. Many people who have healthy levels of anxiety may never experience this phenomenon. Anxiety and Derealization: What’s the Link?ĭerealization is a common anxiety disorder symptom. So, what is the relationship between anxiety and derealization? Let’s discuss the link. He played a leadership role in establishing a new four-year campus in Rochester and the nation’s first urban research and outreach/engagement center (UROC) designed to help find a solution to complex challenges in economically depressed urban communities. While senior vice president for system academic administration, Jones had administrative and budgetary responsibilities for the four constituent campuses in Duluth, Crookston, Morris and Rochester and the offices for public engagement, equity and diversity, Extension Service, Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Stations, information technology and human resources. And with the launch of the Illinois Commitment, a program that guarantees four years free tuition to state residents with family incomes less than $67,100, Jones has continued to deliver on the university’s founding promise of making a world-class college education affordable and accessible. The hiring of an inaugural vice chancellor for diversity, education and inclusion was a major step in fostering an even more open and collaborative community of students and faculty. He has implemented the vision of creating The Carle Illinois College of Medicine, the first engineering-based medical school in the world. That campaign yielded two of the largest private gifts ever made to Illinois with $150 million to name the Gies College of Business and a $100 million gift to name the Grainger College of Engineering. The university completed the largest philanthropic campaign in its history, raising $2.67 billion which exceeded its original goal by more than $400 million – and doing so during the worst global health crisis in living memory. Here are some migration scenarios:Įxample 1: You want to move your team using Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) from old PCs to new Macs. Often, organizations want to virtualize their software, meaning to disassociate it with operating systems and host the programs in separate environments for sandboxing at runtime. Migrations of this type are done to improve efficiency or bring all applications from a legacy system into a current one. Why Perform App, Program, and Software Migration? This type of migration is significantly easier to manage in manual methods. Software migration can also be a more simple movement of installed applications and data from one piece of hardware to another, such as your team all getting new computers, rather than moving an app’s development environment. Software migration is one of a few types of migrations that can be managed and automated entirely by a third party middleware solution. This can refer to applications custom-built on platforms like Microsoft Azure, the Google App Engine,, MySQL, or Amazon Web Services. What is Application, Program, and Software MigrationĪpplication, app, program, and software migration all refer to the same type of transfer: the process of moving an application from one environment to another (like from an on-premises enterprise server to a cloud-based environment, from one server to another, or from cloud-to-cloud). We’ll also offer templates for different spreadsheet and project management tools that can help you map out the entire process and keep everyone accountable for its success. This article will cover the different types of systems you might want to migrate, the challenges of migration, methods and solutions, a checklist for planning your own software migration, and some tools to help you perform it. Because so many things can go wrong in such a long process, it’s important to plan out and follow any software migration carefully. For a large team or an entire company, it’s an IT nightmare. Migrating from one piece of software to another can be hard enough for an individual. Software migration is a generic term that can refer to either a sort of transfer for applications, operating systems, databases, networks, content management systems (CMS), or even an entire IT infrastructure. It could also refer to times when users are migrating the same software from one piece of computer hardware to another, or changing both software and hardware simultaneously. Software migration is the practice of transferring data, accounts, and functionality from one operating environment to another.
